I have always been a dreamer. A doer, with very specific goals in mind… not so much. So many ‘what if’s’ stop me from DOING. All of my worries boil down to the fear of failing. Let’s face it. No one wants to fail. But the best things come when you step outside your comfort zone and try. If something doesn’t work, it’s not a failure. You’ve just ruled out one more way how to NOT do it, getting you closer to success. 🙂
I’m inspired by Jeremy Cowart (watch the video at the end of the post), Joey and Rory Feek (be sure to read One Last Kiss), and others who live a life well-LIVED and well-LOVED.
So guess what, I’ve taken a step in my business that just feels right. Everything fell into place when I wasn’t expecting it. I am so excited. And I’m scared. But you know what, life is about feeling… feeling the good, feeling the bad and every emotion in between. Experiencing the bad better prepares you for the good that lies ahead.
The last few years, I have been forced to learn more about finances, legal stuff, insurance, organization, budgeting, and had to do a whole lot more ‘adulting’ in the last 5 years than the previous 15 years combined. So I feel like I’m better equipped to take another step in my business. Am I ready to make a change? No. Cause let’s be honest, is anyone ever truly ready for change? But I am ready to try. I am ready to learn. I am ready to grow. I am ready for more. I am ready to live bigger.
After 4 years of running Sweet Lemonade Photography as a part-time business, as my focus and attention had to be on other things, I have decided to get after it and make it a full-time job. That’s meant investing a lot more in education, calculating cost of doing business (oh Lord all mighty, it’s a lot more than I ever realized), setting goals and making plans to achieve them.
While I will never stop dreaming, I am choosing to be a dreamer AND a doer. 2016 is my fresh start and I’m not gonna let fear stand in my way of trying new things, professionally and personally.
It’s scary. It is exciting. And I’m ready for the challenge.
Check out the photo below! You see it?
Well, that is Sweet Lemonade Photography’s new studio space! By mid-April, I will be set up with an indoor studio. In addition to taking portraits in this space, families and seniors can view photos, place orders and Kristin and I can meet our Sweet Darling Weddings couples when discussing their upcoming wedding.
I’m about to make my business truly legit y’all! Find me on Facebook and Instagram if you want to follow the progress of my new space.
Come visit me soon. Hey, anyone love to paint? Come visit me even sooner and I’ll put you to work. 🙂

I am SOOOO proud of you!! (Count me in for some family portraits!! We need some new ones!) Way to dream big! You know, the bible talks a lot about dreaming big, “enlarging your tent”, and having a vision – because we serve a Mighty loving God who wants to grace us with “more than we could hope or imagine” – Ephesians 3:20
